Shops and Businesses
Maryport is a fascinating place to shop.
You will not find your large chain store here but an eclectic mix of independent traders. In Maryport you will find everything from shabby chic to collectibles.
There is a wool shop, several shops selling interiors and soft furnishings. There is a family jewellery shop that has been in the town since 1880 and a shoe shop that has specialised in dance shoes.
We also have a shop claiming to be the first "international" food shop in West Cumbria. If it is not on the shelves the owners will get for you no matter what the country of origin. Not bad for a small coastal town!
We also have more than our share of hairdressers and beauty salons, a sportswear shop that sells rugby tops for any team you care to mention. In fact this shop, on Wood Street, is so competitive that it has sent Australian rugby shirts to Australia!
There are a number of charity shops, too, for those who can spend hours looking for a bargain or an elusive book that will only turn up in one of these shops.
Heding down Senhouse Street there is a gallery showcasing local artists and a little shop that is the closest thing to Aladdin's cave you will find in Maryport with its bags, souvenirs, handcrafted Cumbrian walking sticks, china dogs and so much more!
